Nepal is suffering. Our friends in Kathmandu are reporting over 8600 new cases of Covid each day, in a country of only 30 million people. This rate is even more than they are experiencing in India! The news from Kathmandu is getting worse and worse with each passing day.
Nepal's healthcare system is not prepared for this pandemic. There is only one doctor per 1425 people there, according to the World Bank. Hospitals are full, and sick people are being turned away. A donation of oxygen concentrators will help save the lives of some of those people. The care that we take for granted in the West is a luxury in Nepal, but we can help.
As members of the Fredericksburg Nepal Exchange, our goal is to raise $10,000, which will be used to purchase and deliver the most urgently need supplies, including oxygen concentrators and high flow nasal canulas. In collaboration with Ambassador Scott DeLisi (ret) and Engage Nepal, these items which have been identified by our partners on the ground as the most critical will be delivered as quickly as possible.
